01
Transparency 4 / 4

How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?

One click, from the footer. Opens as a web page, last updated 10 October 2024.

02
Consent 1 / 4

Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?

No banner, and the opt-out is the whole web. Nothing appears on a first load and there is no consent platform on the site at all, with seven tracking identifiers set immediately. The policy is unusually candid about what it is offering instead: you may reject cookies by resetting your browser, and if you do, “you will reject cookies from all websites, not just ours”. That sentence is an accurate description of a non-choice.

03
Clarity 3 / 4

How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?

Grade 13.7 across 2,702 words, in one place. Difficulty 1, length 4, access 4. Short and findable, which is most of why Clarity holds up. Measure it yourself.

04
Control 2 / 4

How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?

A named privacy officer. privacyofficer@sportinglifegroup.ca is published in the policy. Nothing self-serve exists.

05
Empathy 4 / 4

Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?

A phone number in the policy itself. 1-800-282-1376, with a Help hub one click from the header.

Overall finding

14 out of 20 Trust-aware

Sporting Life is the clearest statement in this index of what a missing consent banner actually costs. It does not pretend otherwise: the policy says the only refusal available is a browser-wide one, which is the difference between a choice about this shop and a choice about the internet. Everything else here is competent, short, dated and easy to reach.
