Shoppers Drug Mart

A pharmacy running the same Close-button banner as a clothing store, because they have the same owner.
How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?
One click, from the footer, to Loblaw’s policy. Shoppers publishes no privacy policy of its own. The footer link opens Loblaw’s corporate policy, effective 1 July 2026, which covers the whole group. It is one click and it opens as a web page, so placement is good; the document belongs to the parent.
Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?
The same notice Joe Fresh shows, with the same single button. “We respect your privacy” explains that Shoppers and its partners personalize ads on its own and third-party sites, and offers only Close. Ten tracking identifiers, including Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit and Microsoft, are set before it appears. This is a pharmacy, and the consent flow is identical to the one on the group’s clothing brand.
How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?
Grade 13.5 across 5,990 words, in one place. Difficulty 1, length 2, access 4. Measured on Loblaw’s document, because that is the one Shoppers sends you to. Measure it yourself.
How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?
A privacy address at the parent. loblawprivacy@loblaw.ca is named in the policy. Nothing self-serve exists for a Shoppers customer, including for the health services the site sells.
Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?
Several published phone lines. Contact Us, one click from the footer, carries 1-800-746-7737 alongside separate lines for PC Optimum and pharmacy enquiries.
Overall finding
13 out of 20 Compliance-bound
The finding here is the sameness. Shoppers Drug Mart fills prescriptions, books vaccinations and sells health services, and its consent experience is byte for byte the one Joe Fresh uses to sell t-shirts, because Loblaw built one banner for the group. A single Close button is a defensible choice for a clothing storefront. Applied unchanged to a pharmacy, it is the same decision made in a place where the data is not the same.
