15 out of 20 Trust-aware

Reitmans’ consent stack and Reitmans’ policy, on a different storefront.

Transparency, Consent, Clarity, Control, Empathy · clockwise from the top
01
Transparency 4 / 4

How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?

One click, from the footer. Opens as a web page. The document is Reitmans’, because RW&CO is Reitmans’. The policy names reitmans.com, penningtons.com and rw-co.com together and is dated 16 May 2023. A shopper who only knows the RW&CO brand is reading another company’s document, though at least it is one click away and says so plainly at the top.

02
Consent 3 / 4

Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?

The same banner, and the same restraint. “Accept All Cookies” solid, “Manage My Preferences” outlined, and an identical result underneath: five cookies on a first load and not one tracker among them. Whatever decision produced this was made once, at the parent, and applied across the banners.

03
Clarity 2 / 4

How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?

Grade 14.7 across 6,202 words, in one place. Difficulty 0, length 2, access 4. The same measurement as Reitmans, because it is the same document. Measure it yourself.

04
Control 2 / 4

How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?

A privacy address at the parent. The policy routes privacy requests to privacy@reitmans.com. Nothing self-serve exists.

05
Empathy 4 / 4

Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?

A phone number and an address, two clicks away. Help Centre, then Contact Us, which carries 1-855-232-7926 and customerservice@rw-co.com with staffed hours listed.

Overall finding

15 out of 20 Trust-aware

RW&CO scores identically to Reitmans because it is Reitmans, and the case is the mirror image of Simplii and CIBC. There, inheriting the parent’s document cost the brand points, because reaching it meant leaving the site. Here the shared document sits one click from the RW&CO footer and the shared consent configuration is the best in the retail set. Inheriting is not the problem; what you inherit is.
