Rogers

Telecom · rogers.com

11 out of 20 Compliance-bound

The clearest privacy policy of any large company measured here, on a website that will not give you a phone number.

Transparency, Consent, Clarity, Control, Empathy · clockwise from the top
01
Transparency 3 / 4

How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?

Two clicks, from the footer. “Privacy, CRTC & Consumer Codes” opens a page that lists the Privacy Policy first, and the policy is the second click. It opens as a web page with a table of contents and an effective date, though that date is April 2025, the oldest of the three telecoms.

02
Consent 1 / 4

Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?

No banner, and the trackers are already running. Nothing appears on first load. Before any interaction Rogers had set Adobe Analytics and Target, Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta pixel and a Reddit identifier, among thirty-seven cookies in total. The opt-out the policy points to is a third-party Adobe preferences page, which is the browser-settings route by another name.

03
Clarity 3 / 4

How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?

Grade 13.7 across 4,091 words, in one place. Difficulty 1, length 3, access 4. One document, one page, a table of contents, no PDF and nothing to assemble. On the access component this is the best-organized privacy documentation of any large company in the index. Measure it yourself.

04
Control 2 / 4

How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?

A Privacy Officer, by post or email. The policy names a Privacy Officer at 333 Bloor St. E. with privacy@rci.rogers.com, and a separate Chief Privacy Officer for Rogers Bank. Clearly labelled and easy to find. There is no self-serve request form and no online route to your own information.

05
Empathy 2 / 4

Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?

No phone number, anywhere. Support leads to a Contact us page, which leads to a topic, which leads to a grid of self-serve articles. Following that path to the bottom produces “Can’t find what you’re looking for? Chat with us”. There is not one tel: link or published number on the contact page, the support home, or the resolve-a-concern page.

Overall finding

11 out of 20 Compliance-bound

Rogers writes the best-organized privacy policy of any large company in this index, and pairs it with the worst support experience of the three telecoms. One document, one page, a table of contents, and then no way to speak to anyone: a phone company whose website does not print a phone number. The consent score is the other half of it, with six tracking systems live before a first-time visitor is told anything at all. Rogers is good at explaining and unwilling to be reached.
