13 out of 20 Compliance-bound

A real preference centre behind a button marked Learn more, on a banner that says browsing is your agreement.

Transparency, Consent, Clarity, Control, Empathy · clockwise from the top
01
Transparency 4 / 4

How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?

One click, from the footer. The privacy statement opens as a web page with a clear title and a section index.

02
Consent 2 / 4

Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?

Consent by browsing, and a settings button that does not say settings. The banner offers exactly one button, “Learn more”, and an ×. Behind it is a genuine OneTrust Privacy Preference Center with four categories and a Save settings button, and both optional categories arrive switched on. What holds this at 2 is the framing rather than the machinery: there is no accept and no decline, the settings entrance is labelled as though it leads to an explanation, and the banner states that “by interacting with this site, you agree to our use of cookies”. A choice you are told you have already made is not one you were offered.

03
Clarity 2 / 4

How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?

Grade 15.4 across 8,870 words, in one place. Difficulty 0, length 1, access 4. Long and hard at once, which is the combination Clarity exists to catch: six brands here publish more words and only three publish harder prose. Measure it yourself.

04
Control 3 / 4

How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?

A privacy office address, and nothing self-serve. privacy@netflix.com is named as the route to exercise privacy rights, attached to a Data Protection Officer. Account holders can download their information from inside the account area, which is login-gated with no guest equivalent.

05
Empathy 2 / 4

Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?

A contact page that cannot reach a person. Contact Us, one click from the footer, offers a “Describe your issue” box and quick links for passwords and payment methods. No phone number and no chat appears anywhere until you sign in.

Overall finding

13 out of 20 Compliance-bound

Netflix has built the pieces of a good consent experience and assembled them to produce a worse one. The preference centre is real, four categories deep, and one click away. It sits behind a button labelled Learn more, on a notice that tells you agreement has already happened, in front of a policy that runs 8,870 words at Grade 15.4. Every individual part is defensible and the result is a service that never actually asks.
