Gander

Social Media · gandersocial.ca

17 out of 20 Trust-aware

The only brand in the index with nothing to consent to, and the smallest company in it. Privacy here reads as a design principle rather than a compliance exercise.

Transparency, Consent, Clarity, Control, Empathy · clockwise from the top
01
Transparency 4 / 4

How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?

One click, from the main navigation. “Data Privacy” sits in the primary nav rather than the footer, with the full policy also linked from the footer. Clear title, visible last-updated date, opens as a web page.

02
Consent 4 / 4

Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?

Nothing to consent to. No tracking cookies are deployed, no Google Analytics, no third-party analytics. Usage data is captured by self-hosted anonymous analytics, and the policy states plainly that there is no tracking across the web, no surveillance and no selling of data. The only brand here that scores full marks by not collecting rather than by asking well.

03
Clarity 3 / 4

How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?

Grade 13.6 across 3,435 words, in one place. Difficulty 1, length 3, access 4. Hard prose for its length, and by some margin the shortest policy measured, which is the trade-off the length component exists to catch. Measure it yourself.

04
Control 2 / 4

How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?

An address, not a form. Gander is pre-launch with no account system, so there is no self-serve control to score. A dedicated privacy address (privacy@gandersocial.ca) is clearly documented and easy to find, which is the most a company without accounts can offer.

05
Empathy 4 / 4

Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?

A human in one click. The FAQ in the main navigation carries a direct address (formation@gandersocial.ca) with an explicit invitation to write. One of only three brands here to reach full marks on Empathy.

Overall finding

17 out of 20 Trust-aware

Gander scores at the ceiling on Transparency, Consent and Empathy, the three dimensions that show what a company thinks it owes the person on the other side. The caveat is real, though: it is pre-launch, and the easiest time to hold this position is before there is a business model pulling against it. The score to watch is the one after launch.
