Freedom Mobile

13 out of 20 Compliance-bound

The only Canadian carrier here with no consent banner at all, which is a strange way to compete on being the customer-friendly one.

Transparency, Consent, Clarity, Control, Empathy · clockwise from the top
01
Transparency 4 / 4

How many clicks to find the privacy policy from the homepage?

One click, from the footer. Opens as a web page, no download and nothing to assemble, which is already better than Bell manages.

02
Consent 1 / 4

Is there a meaningful choice about cookies and tracking before data is collected?

No banner, and no platform behind it. Nothing appears on a first load, there is no consent tooling on the site, and no cookie preferences link anywhere. Five tracking identifiers are set on arrival. The policy points at browser settings and at the Network Advertising Initiative’s industry opt-out tool, which is a choice about the advertising industry rather than about Freedom. Bell, Rogers and TELUS all show a banner; the challenger brand does not.

03
Clarity 2 / 4

How hard is the policy to read, how much of it is there, and can you get it in one piece?

Grade 11.7 across 7,320 words, in one place. Difficulty 2, length 1, access 4. Long, but the most readable telecom policy in this index and easier than any of the Big Three. Measure it yourself.

04
Control 2 / 4

How many clicks to reach data settings, and can you delete your account yourself?

A named privacy officer. privacyofficer@freedommobile.ca is published in the policy. Nothing self-serve.

05
Empathy 4 / 4

Find the support page. How many clicks, and is there a way to speak to a human?

Contact Us in the top navigation. Not the footer, the header, with 1-877-946-3184 published on it.

Overall finding

13 out of 20 Compliance-bound

Freedom Mobile writes the most readable telecom policy in this index and puts it on a web page rather than in a PDF, which is a real improvement on its larger competitors. Then it is the only one of the four carriers that never asks. The brand is built on being the alternative to Bell, Rogers and TELUS, and on the one dimension where the incumbents actually do something, it is the one that does nothing.
